Lavangadi Vati

 

Lavangadi Vati an herbal formulation utilized in ayurveda for the pacification of persistent cough. It reduces throat irritation, liquifies the thick mucus in the lungs and so others the airways. It is also beneficial in sore throat. In this condition, it reduces throat pain and prevents the formation of pus pockets (peritonsillar abscesses). It is also useful in mouth ulcer.



Medicinal Properties of Lavangadi Vati

Lavangadi Vati is a balanced formulation. So, it is often used no matter any dosha.The medicinal uses of Lavangadi Vati are attributed to the subsequent medicinal properties:

 

Ø  Antitussive.

Ø  Mucolytic.

Ø  Bronchodilator.

Ø  Antitussive.

Ø  Anti-inflammatory.

Ø  Antimicrobial.

Ø  Anti-allergic.



Lavangadi Vati Benefits and Uses

Lavangadi vati benefits in alleviating cough attack and reduces throat irritation.



Persistent Cough

Lavangadi vati alleviates persistent attack of cough by reducing throat irritation and soothing the airways. You can use it in both types of cough:

 

Ø  Productive cough.

Ø  Non-productive cough.



The action remains the same in both types. However, you may also require other medicines as follows along with its use:

Non-productive cough Yashtimadhu + Sitopaladi Churna

Productive cough Shringyadi Churna or Talisadi Churna



Pharyngitis (Sore throat) & Tonsillitis


Along with Sitopaladi Churna, Gandhak Rasayana and Yashad Bhasma, Lavangadi vati also can help to scale back symptoms of pharyngitis and tonsillitis. It has a soothing effect in the throat. It also prevents formation of peritonsillar abscesses.



Mouth Ulcer

Because of catechu extract, Lavangadi vati provides relief in mouth ulcers. However, it should be used in combination with Yashtimadhu for this purpose. You should take Yashtimadhu Churna during a dosage of a half teaspoon 2 times each day . The best time to take it is before a meal.


Lavangadi Vati Dosage

The classical ayurvedic dosage of Lavangadi Vati is as follows:

 

Children :  ½ tablet
Adults :  1 tablet
Geriatric Dosage :  1 tablet
Maximum Possible Dosage :  7 tablets per day
